The pulmonary function course gives students an extensive overview of the purposes, procedures and application of pulmonary diagnostic testing. This includes how to interpret pulmonary function data, how to relate data to certain pulmonary diseases, how to assess if a test was done correctly and consistently, how to apply required quality control to testing technique and equipment, and how to effectively coach someone through specific pulmonary function tests.
The lab component of this course provides the student with practical experience in performing pulmonary diagnostic tests, quality control, and coaching techniques in a PF lab setting.
