Hello everyone,
Welcome to Introduction to Economics, ECON 1220. I am very glad to have you in this intensive December session, and I look forward to working with each of you this month. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and practical learning environment where you can build a solid foundation in economic thinking. These skills will help you understand the world around you and make more informed decisions in your academic, professional, and personal life.
This course introduces the essential tools economists use to analyze real-world issues. Together, we will explore both microeconomics and macroeconomics, covering topics such as scarcity and opportunity cost, markets and pricing, economic growth, inflation, unemployment, government choices, competition, externalities, public goods, globalization, and trade policy. We will connect these ideas to current events, media stories, and everyday situations so you can clearly see how economic principles shape the world we live in.
Our work together will combine short lectures, practical examples, interactive activities, and opportunities for discussion. I encourage you to stay engaged, ask questions, and reach out whenever you need support.
Please begin by reviewing the course outline. If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help.
I look forward to working with you and to a productive and enjoyable learning experience.
Warm regards
