We would recommend reading all 3 books front to back....but that may be difficult so best focus on our core subject matter each week. The 1st 4 weeks look like this- Nutrition (Week 1 and 2), Herd Health (Week 3) and Organizations-Ranch Carrying Capacity (Week 4). From the Feed Trough is a heavy read but thankfully it is broken into small chapters; do not worry if many of the concepts are over your head.
Our Classes are very important to attend as we cover a lot of material and bring in guest speakers each week.
Our Class dates are as follows: September 3, 10, 17 and 24th - every Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM so please ensure you have these days off. We are also planning a field day On Wednesday Sept 18th (9-5).
You will receive marks for attending and participating each week (30%).
We know many of you come with some background in Beef Production so we want to encourage you to share your knowledge and wisdom. But for best use of time and to maximize the expertise of our guest speakers, we encourage everyone to read before the class so we can have some deeper discussions each week.
Also we do deduct marks (5%) per day for late assignments so completing assignments on time will be critical to success in this course.
We look forward to seeing you all on September 3rd and enjoy the rest of the summer.
