Students examine the effect of trauma and trauma-related issues on children, youth, families and communities. Topics include trauma in attachment, child abuse and neglect, child and youth mental health and substance use. Students examine the impact of trauma exposure to the developing brain, physiology, psyche and regulatory system. This course provides students with an introduction to trauma informed practice in a variety of practice settings.
